RELATED: Games That Defined The JRPG Genre & Where You Can Play Them

Those who haven’t played the game yet but are planning to will especially be excited to learn these things they didn’t know they would be able to do while playing Scarlet Nexus. For those who are already playing the game, these are the things they may have missed out on doing or mechanics they forgot to take advantage of.

10 Refill Your Health By Going Up To Satori

Satori the Archivist is the game’s merchant. Aside from being the place to go to for item purchases, sales, and exchanges, players can also turn to this NPC to manually save their progress.

What the game doesn’t outright reveal, however, is that whenever the player talks to Satori, their health bar and that of everyone in their party will be replenished. This is a very great way of conserving Jellies whenever Satori is nearby.

9 Use Four SAS Abilities At Once

The use of SAS Abilities is one of the most useful and powerful combat mechanics in this JRPG title. With this, the player is able to use the powers of other characters, on top of their own. At the beginning of the game, the player can only use one another ability with the SAS system. As they progress, however, there is a way to increase this to up to four SAS Abilities.

This can be done by unlocking a skill from the Brain Map called the Concurrent SAS Activation. There are two of these, in fact. The first one will allow the player to use two SAS abilities at once, while the second will allow them to use four.

8 Complete Side Quests Without Returning To The Quest Giver

At various areas in each level in the game, there are a couple of NPCs that will give the player a side quest to complete. These quests are fairly simple in structure. Most of them simply involve the player collecting a couple of materials, or defeating certain enemies in an exact manner.

After completing a side quest, instead of going back to the NPC that gave the player the quest, they can simply head to the quest menu from the options screen to fulfill the quest and earn their reward.

7 Keep Using A SAS Ability A Bit Longer

As incredible as it is to be able to use another character’s powers, there is always a limitation to keep the game balanced. The player is only able to use another’s powers for a certain amount of time, which will then undergo a cooldown before the player can use the ability again.

Thankfully, there are ways in the game to make the SAS abilities linger on for a bit longer. The most straightforward way is by increasing the player’s bonds with other characters. The other, more subtle one is by keeping the owner of the ability in the player’s party.

6 Regain Health Outside Of Combat

The healing items in Scarlet Nexus, which are called Jellies, aren’t very expensive, nor do they only come by rarely. However, for the sake of conservation and better gameplay, there is a skill in the game players should take advantage of, one that will replenish their health while they are outside of combat.

This skill is called Auto-Heal. It can be unlocked in the Brain Map menu for 6 Brain Points. This will save the player Jellies when their HP is low after combat encounters.

5 Play Two Different Sets Of Storylines

Scarlet Nexus portrays two protagonists: Yuito and Kasane. The player also has the option to play either of them. Instead of having two characters that follow the same storyline, Yuito and Kasane actually go on different journeys, essentially giving the players two sets of storylines to finish.

The overall story of Scarlet Nexus is one that’s filled with intrigue and mystery and both storylines provide necessary pieces to the narrative puzzle. If the player wants to experience everything this game has to offer, they should definitely play both storylines.

4 Incorporate The TV Series Into The Experience

Something not a lot of people know about Scarlet Nexus is that it is actually tied to an anime series of the same name. The series is an adaptation of the game, and the latter tries to push players into watching the show in a very interesting way.

There is a side quest in Musubi that involves the players putting in codes in exchange for rewards, which will eventually lead to the completion of the quest. To get the codes, the player must watch the anime series and find hidden codes in each episode.

3 Shorten Brain Crush Animation

The Brain Crush ability is a powerful tool in Scarlet Nexus. It is highly gratifying and really showcases how powerful the characters in the game can be. However, a lot of players may feel like the Brain Crush animation can go on for too long, especially once they’ve put in hours upon hours into the game.

Those who feel this way have the option to actually shorten the Brain Crush animations so they can make their gameplay more unadorned. They can do this by looking up the Brain Crush animation option from the game’s settings menu.

2 Do A New Game Plus Playthrough

After the player completes one playthrough, they will be glad to know that they play the game all over again, with their items, level, and brain points intact. The only thing they’ll need to work up again is the bond they’ve built with other characters.

This is also a great way of replaying the game using another protagonist. If the player’s first playthrough is with Yuito, they can play the game again as Kasane and her inventory will be filled with everything the player has collected in the other character’s run.

1 Choose The Language

Being a JRPG title, it is only natural that the game’s language is set in Japanese. However, English speakers can actually choose to play in their native language as the game offers that as an option.

A lot of players will opt for the Japanese language option for the sake of immersion as it perfectly matches the aesthetics of the game. However, non-Japanese speakers may find it distracting to turn their eyes to the subtitles when other characters speak while in the middle of combat, especially when these dialogues are combat advice.
