RELATED: The 5 Best Things About Biomutant (& The 5 Worst)
There are two types of perks in Biomutant: general perks, and perks associated with each class. General perks can be unlocked regardless of the player’s class, while the other type is exclusive to a specific class. Some of these perks are much better than others, so unlocking the ones below to make the player’s mutated character as powerful as it can be.
10 Knock (Sentinel)
The Knock perk is exclusive to the Sentinel class, which is geared towards tanking more damage than the other classes. For three upgrade points, the Knock perk will allow players to make enemies stumble and fall when they are dodging “into” them.
This perk will give the player a much-needed opening when dealing with multiple enemies at once. Given that the Sentinel class heavily emphasizes close-ranged combat, this perk is the best one to unlock for Sentinel users.
9 Moving Target (Saboteur)
The Moving Target perk is exclusive to the Saboteur class. For two upgrade points, this perk will increase the player’s basic movement speed by 5% when they are engaged in combat.
The Saboteur class relies heavily on fast movement, and the Moving Target perk accentuates this playstyle even more. At certain points in the game, the player will be faced with enemies that have quick attacks and unpredictable patterns. This perk is a good way of staying alive in this specific scenario.
8 Charmer (General)
The Charmer general perk increases the player’s chance to persuade in dialogue by one point. One point may not sound like much, but it is already a generous increase. Considering it only costs one upgrade point to unlock this useful perk, it’s something players should snag early.

The persuade dialogue option comes up whenever the player invades an outpost with a final boss battle. This diplomatic approach will allow the player to “persuade” an enemy to surrender willingly. The Charmer’s boost to persuasion will give the player a higher chance to successfully negotiate an enemy’s surrender.
7 Plating (General)
For two upgrade points, the player can access the Plating general perk. Once unlocked, this perk will increase the armor value of add-ons to clothes and equipment to 25%.
Putting add-ons on clothes and equipment is something the player should always do in Biomutant. These upgrades can be easily bought from merchants or looted all around the game’s world. The 25% increase in armor value is considerable, making Plating one of the most useful perks in the game.
6 Clip Tech (General)
The Clip Tech perk will allow the player to fire 25% more shots with their ranged weapons before it needs to be reloaded. This perk costs two upgrade points to unlock, and any class can do so.
Clip Tech is especially useful for those who belong to Dead-Eye or Commando classes and are going for a ranged build. This perk is also made more efficient the bigger the weapon’s magazine clip size is, making it perfect for users of automatic rifles.
5 Whet (General)
The Whet general perk can be unlocked for three upgrade points. Doing so will grant the player a passive effect that increases their melee weapon attack damage by 15%, making it that much easier to hack through enemies.
Melee builds can be made incredibly more powerful by unlocking this perk. 15% is a relatively low increase, but the effect of this perk will significantly increase the higher the weapon’s attack damage is.
4 Gunsmith (General)
The Gunsmith perk is the perfect counterpart or companion for the Whet perk, depending on the player’s build. For three upgrade points, the player’s ranged weapons’ attack damage will permanently increase by 15%.

Similar to the Whet general perk, the higher the weapon’s attack damage is, the more beneficial this perk becomes. Whether the player is strictly opting for a ranged build or is balancing between melee and range, the Gunsmith perk is one of the best perks they can choose to unlock.
3 Brain Drain (Psi-Freak)
The Brain Drain perk is exclusive to the Psi-Freak class, which relies heavily on psionic powers and mutations. Essentially, these players function as the “mages” of the game. The Brain Drain perk will regenerate the Psi-Freak’s health by 20% each time they inflict Power Damage.
Psi-powers and mutation abilities deal exclusively in power damage. This means each time the player uses their attacks with this perk unlocked, they’re also healing themselves. Players can unlock this perk for three upgrade points.
2 Perfect Reload (General)
The Perfect Reload perk can be unlocked by any class from three upgrade points. However, those belonging to the Dead-Eye class have this perk unlocked for free. Perfect Reload will allow players to reload their weapons instantly. On top of that, it will also grant their next magazine and 20% increase in damage.
As it is a starting perk for the Dead-Eye class, this perk is an absolute must for ranged builds. For this perk to work, the player will have to hit the reload button at the perfect time. A prompt will appear on the screen so it should be easily doable for players to find the sweet spot.
1 Sharpshooter (Dead-Eye)
The Sharpshooter perk will make Dead-Eye class players incredibly overpowered. For three upgrade points, this perk will make two-handed guns inflict double damage. Most two-handed guns in the game already have very high base damages, so pairing them with the Sharpshooter perk will make them immensely powerful.
As the player progresses through the game, they’ll find ranged weapons such as shotguns, rifles, and automatic rifles. These are the weapons that will benefit the most from this perk.
